Blackjack is among the oldest casino games, preceding the modern concept of the casino itself. The famous Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quijote, wrote about a game called “veintiuna” (twenty-one) in the seventeenth century, which was much like blackjack (which is also called Twenty-One throughout the world). The game is a must in every respectable online casino platform.
How To Play
A group of players gather around the dealer (representing the casino) and place their bets. The game is based on comparing cards, and the result achieved by the player should be better than the one achieved by the dealer. Each card represents an equivalent number of points; the three face cards represent 10 points each, and the ace could represent either 1 or 11 points. Each ‘hand’ has two cards, and the final hand of the player will be compared with the final hand of the dealer. The goal is:
- to have more points than the dealer, without exceeding 21;
- winning by forcing the dealer to get a hand that exceeds 21 points;
- to get the perfect hand, which is called blackjack: having 21 points (a face card and an ace).
Several variants are possible (Pontoon, 21st-Century Blackjack, Super Fun 21) and can be found online.
The Dream Of Beating The House
Blackjack is the casino game with most rules to follow to achieve a win. The winnings are not great (although, as ever, this depends on the amount you bet.) For these reasons, some players discard it. But blackjack, even being a game based on luck, is the one in which the players have the best shot at beating the casino. Depending on the variant, the RTP (Return to Players) average of this game can go up to 99.5%.
Playing Online Blackjack
Online casino platform could allow you to play against the software (with a Random Number Generator commanding, like in every other virtual game). You could also play Live Blackjack, against a human dealer shuffling real cards in a live video transmission to your computer or smartphone.
